Rumors are starting to swirl about the upcoming 2020 Subaru Outback redesign

The Subaru Outback entered its most recent generation during the 2015 model year, and that means our favorite wagon/crossover is ready for a new look! Starting fall of this year, the redesigned 2020 Subaru Outback will begin making its way into our dealership, and we know that customers we serve from Napa, Walnut Creek, and beyond will be excited to check out the new looks and features!

So far, not much official information has been leaked about the 2020 Outback, but we have a good feeling that the rumors and strong whisperings we talk about below will give you a hint of what to expect.

  • Powertrains: the larger 3.6R engine for the Outback won't be available after the 2019 model year. Subaru hasn't announced which engine will be taking its place, but we suspect engineers will use the Subaru Ascent's engine, and that does offer up more power than the outgoing 3.6R! There also hasn't been any word on what is happening to the smaller 2.5L you get on the entry Outback trims. We suspect it'll stick around and offer a little more in the way of torque and horsepower. Despite what happens, we think you're still going to love the performance that helps you get around Vacaville and Davis.
  • Style: if you've followed Subaru long enough, you know the brand doesn't really do big design changes, and we think that's one reason people stay so loyal; they can get into a vehicle they like the look of and stick with it from generation to generation. Again, Subaru hasn't released any official pics, but there are rumors that the front-end of the Outback will closely align with the Subaru Forester's bumper. On the inside, we suspect the Outback will follow the footsteps of the Legacy's premium interior styling and updated technology. Below is a peek at the Legacy's dash to get an idea of what you might be looking at when you hop inside a 2020 Outback!

We have a few months before the 2020 Subaru Outback is available, but you'll be able to drive one around San Francisco before you know it! Keep following our blog to learn more about the upcoming wagon and be sure to reach out to us as fall draws nearer so that you can be one of the first to check out the redesigned Outback at our Fairfield CA dealership.
