The All New 2019 Subaru BRZ

Get your dose of performance with the Subaru BRZ

Subaru has a reputation for outdoor-friendly vehicles, but the Subaru BRZ has been breaking the mold since it first arrived during the 2013 model year. It looks like something you'd see at a race track or valet booth, and the rear-wheel BRZ is the only new Subaru that doesn't have standard all-wheel drive. If you want to show your appreciation for the brand but are looking for something a little different, consider buying or leasing a 2019 Subaru BRZ!

The All New Subaru BRZ

Performance

The BRZ is available in two main trims: Premium and Limited. There's also a new Series.Gray limited-edition trim that sits above the Limited, but more on that shortly. The Premium and Limited both have a standard 2.0L engine with 205 horsepower and 156 lb-ft torque. The 6-speed manual transmission is standard, but if stick isn't your thing, the Limited has an available 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, though specs shift a little to 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft torque; not a huge change, but something to keep in mind.

The low-riding stance helps you feel one with the road, and the sport-tuned suspension with a limited-slip differential is great on turns and straightaways. For added performance, go with the Limited so you can get the available performance package with Brembo® brakes and absorbers from SACHS®.

Amenities

All BRZ models come with a touchscreen. The Premium's is a 6.2-inch, and the 7-inch on the Limited gets Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob come with both models, and the Limited has Alcantara® and leather-trimmed seats for a slightly more upscale look. For an edgier style, you can upgrade to the Series.Gray trim that gets a 'Cool Gray Khaki' paintjob, 17-inch black alloy wheels, black Subaru badges, and a few other style differentiators.

Safety

Unlike many of the new Subaru models, the Subaru BRZ doesn't have EyeSight®, which is Subaru's advanced safety package. This isn't unexpected, as most performance-focused vehicles forgo these technologies for weight reasons and it's not something buyers tend to want. That said, you'll still get Subaru's advanced frontal airbag system, the LATCH system in case you need to drop the kiddo off at camp, brake assist, and vehicle stability control with Track mode.
