The Subaru logo can evoke up images of mountains, lakes, and the outdoor lifestyle. While the Subaru brand does cater to a lot of drivers who revel in the outdoors and have a family plus a furry friend in tow, we're here to remind you that the brand also has a sporty side, and you get to see it with the Subaru BRZ!

Three fun facts about the Subaru BRZ

  1. The BRZ is the only model in the Subaru lineup that doesn't have standard symmetrical all-wheel drive. Instead, you get a rear-wheel drive system that is primed for performance.
  2. The BRZ has an incredibly sleek look, but you may be surprised that the manufacturer's suggested starting price is actually under $26,000, making it an affordable option for shoppers who want performance.
  3. The BRZ is the only Subaru that doesn't have the EyeSight® package of advanced safety technologies, though this is common with performance vehicles. However, you do get standard LED lights, which isn't the norm on many models until you hit the top trims.

Let's check out the BRZ's performance specs

All three BRZ trims (Premium, Limited, and BRZ tS) are powered by a 2.0L Subaru Boxer® engine that produces 205 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. Unlike a lot of performance cars which opt for an automatic transmission, the BRZ has a standard 6-speed manual. However, if you do prefer an automatic, the Limited trim can get one, though you do forfeit 5 lb-ft torque and 5 horses.

If you want even more performance, we suggest going with the top BRZ tS trim. Not only do you get a massive carbon fiber wing, but you also get a high-performance suspension (up from the standard sport-tuned suspension), Brembo® brakes, and SACHS® shocks.

Technology and Amenities

All trims come with a touchscreen, but the Limited and BRZ tS get a larger 7-inch one with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capabilities. Starting at the Limited trim you'll find beautiful Alcantara® and leather upholstery covering the seats, and the BRZ tS adds on some red contrast stitching for an additional touch. All trims have a standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
