Legacy in Motion: The Tyler Switzer Memorial Tournament - Tyler S
Tyler Switzer’s journey to becoming an exceptional young man began early—rooted in values of service, discipline, and community. At just 15, Tyler joined the Vacaville Police Cadet Program, where he quickly rose to the rank of Cadet Sergeant. Inspired to serve and lead, he later joined the Fairfield Police Explorers, earning the title of Lieutenant. His dream was to serve in law enforcement, and he enrolled in college to begin that journey. But Tyler’s path took a turn—one driven by deep family inspiration. With his younger brother, father, and great-grandfather all serving in the United States Marine Corps, Tyler felt called to do the same. After his sophomore year of college, he enlisted in the Marines to serve his country, see the world, and earn the title of United States Marine. And he did just that. Tyler completed multiple deployments most of which he volunteered for—including his final, critical mission with the Special Marine Air Ground Task Force in support of the Afghanistan withdrawal. He also continued his education while serving, earning his bachelor’s degree shortly before his passing. Tyler’s goals began to evolve. After his honorable discharge in January 2022, he had been accepted into flight school in San Diego with dreams of becoming a commercial airline pilot for Southwest Airlines. His next chapter was set to begin on May 22, 2022. Tragically, Tyler’s life was cut short in an accident on May 13, 2022. In the months that followed, our family was shattered. I began therapy, trying to understand how to move forward. One day, my therapist gave me a simple but powerful assignment: “Find a way to keep Tyler’s name alive.” That one assignment led to the creation of the Tyler Switzer Memorial Golf Tournament—a community event dedicated to honoring Tyler’s legacy and giving back to the causes he held dear: veterans, mental health, and law enforcement youth programs. Since its creation, the tournament has raised approximately $165,000, supporting: -A scholarship in Tyler’s name at Vanden High School, funded by the golf tournament and the Marine Corps League. -E5 Therapy, a nonprofit providing critical mental health support for veterans and first responders. -The Vacaville and Fairfield Police Cadet Programs, which each received $4,000 donations this year. In just three years, the tournament has grown beyond anything we imagined. We’ve sold out every year this past year, we sold out in only three days. But none of this would be possible without Fairfield Subaru. From day one, Fairfield Subaru and its owner, Wahid, have gone above and beyond. Their team covers golf registration for Tyler’s Marine brothers flying in from across the country. They bring staff to volunteer, contribute financially, and most importantly, show up with heart. Their unwavering support has not only made this tournament a success—it has given me purpose again. Fairfield Subaru didn’t just help keep my son’s name alive. They helped me find my footing, my strength, and a reason to believe that Tyler’s legacy can continue through love, service, and community. Fairfield Subaru is more than a dealership. They are family. And through the Subaru Love Promise, they have shown what it truly means to be there for their community supporting mental health, veterans, families in grief, and the next generation of leaders. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for loving us like family and helping keep Tyler’s spirit alive. Ron Switzer, Father of Tyler Switzer

Fairfield Subaru steps up for injured Vacaville police K9 “Murph” - Sherley S
On January 15, 2025, K9 Murph was injured in the line of duty while bravely apprehending an armed suspect. Murph took a gunshot wound during the incident, but his actions that day played a critical role in keeping both officers and community members safe. Murph has been a loyal part of the Vacaville Police Department for over three years, and his courage and dedication are part of what make him such a valued member of our team. In the days following the incident, our department received an outpouring of support—but one act stood out. Fairfield Subaru reached out immediately, asking how they could help. Without hesitation, they donated $4,000 to assist with Murph’s emergency medical care and recovery. Their generosity ensured that Murph would get the treatment he needs to heal and return to his happy, energetic self. What made this gesture even more meaningful was the level of care and involvement from the entire Fairfield Subaru team. This wasn’t just a financial gift—it was a true act of compassion. Their staff showed deep concern, shared Murph’s story, and genuinely stood behind our department during a difficult moment. Their support reflected a strong commitment to the community and to those who serve it, both human and K9. It’s rare to see a local business step up in such a personal and immediate way, and we are truly grateful. We’re proud to partner with Fairfield Subaru, who demonstrate what it means to give back—not just with words, but with meaningful action. Their support for Murph represents the very best of what community partnership can look like. From all of us at the Vacaville Police Department, thank you, Fairfield Subaru, for standing with us and showing love to one of our own.

The campaign invites 7th through 12th grade students to submit 30-second to 2-minute videos that demonstrate how small acts of kindness can make a big impact in schools, homes, and communities. Fairfield Subaru’s support has gone far beyond a donation—it has become a driving force behind the program’s continued growth. Through our sponsorship, GoPro cameras are awarded to students who submit the winning videos, helping them capture and share even more stories of kindness. Since our partnership began, at least 15 students have received GoPros, a prize that both honors their creativity and equips them to keep inspiring others. The impact extends well beyond the classroom. These student-created videos are shared at school assemblies, in classrooms, and across social media—promoting messages of anti-bullying, inclusion, and compassion throughout the county. Fairfield Subaru’s sponsorship directly supports this ripple effect by celebrating and encouraging the next generation of changemakers. Our Fairfield Subaru team has been honored to attend award events and witness firsthand the excitement and pride from the students, their families, and school staff. We believe in showing up for our community and in recognizing young leaders who are shaping a kinder future. Fairfield Subaru Feeds Hungry School Children - Patricia C
The Vacaville/Fairfield Chapter of End 68 Hours of Hunger is very grateful for the financial support provided by Fairfield Subaru. We also love to see the Subaru employees who volunteer their time at our weekly food packing operation. We could not feed hungry kids without the support of generous sponsors in the community like Fairfield Subaru. End 68 Hours of Hunger is a not-for-profit effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive at school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive at school on Monday morning. We do this by providing bags of non-perishable food to needy students on Friday so they will have enough food to eat over the weekend. According the organization, Feeding America, “Children need nutrients so that they can grow, develop, and focus on learning instead of thinking about the food they need. Ultimately, they need to be able to concentrate in the classroom, so they can succeed and reach their full potential.” Our goal is simple. We want to eliminate the fear of hunger so children arrive at school ready to focus and learn. We serve 11 schools in Fairfield, Vacaville and Dixon. Each week we provide 350 bags of food to food insecure students. We are the only chapter in California and one of the largest in the country. End 68 Hours of Hunger has expert shoppers that purchase food and stock our pantry. We also receive food donations through sponsored food drives. 95% of our funds go directly to purchasing food for hungry kids. End 68 Hours of Hunger is an all volunteer organization so our overhead is very minimal. We love our kids and love the support we receive from Fairfield Subaru. Together we are feeding hungry kids in our community.
