Powertrains
Subaru is shuffling around the powertrain lineup, and the 3.6L engine is going away for 2020. Subaru hasn't officially stated what engine will be replacing the larger 3.6L, but rumor has it engineers will take the Subaru Ascent's 2.4L turbo with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft torque and place it in select Outback trims. The good news is the 2.4L turbocharged engine has more kick than the 3.6L, so cross those fingers. We're guessing there will be some slight changes to the 2.5L Outback engine that produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft torque, but we've haven't heard anything official. Either way, you'll still enjoy your drives around Vacaville & Davis, CA.
Style
Subaru isn't known for drastically changing its style during redesigns, and there haven't been any spy shots of the upcoming 2020 Outback that suggest a big departure from the current look. That said, it'll probably look a little more streamlined and we suspect the interior will be like the 2020 Subaru Legacy's, and that’s not a bad thing since it looks premium and clean. We also hear it'll be a bit bigger, so when you do long drives away from Vacaville or get stuck in San Francisco traffic, you'll enjoy the extra space.
Arrival
The 2020 Subaru Outback is set to arrive during the fall of this year, so you have a bit of time before you need to make your way in from Davis. As more information comes trickling out, we'll make sure to update our blog!
